An innovation to the AVT programme, a combination of short lectures, practical demonstrations and  hands on suturing  exercises on ex vivo models will give the workshop participant a practical understanding of the techniques of sutured vascular anastomosis. Individual supervision by vascular surgeons in the practical workshop is designed to effectively achieve the learning objectives of this workshop. This workshop is compulsory for all AVT2009 registrants. Surgical trainees in other disciplines including general surgery and plastics and reconstructive surgery will also find this workshop useful. A fee of $50.00 is  applicable to trainees not  registered as AVT2009 registrants. Session details are available on www.avt-aus.com.

A series of summary lectures and interactive case study dicussion by a panel that includes a peri operative physician, neurologist and nephrologist will go through a number of significant medical topics that are requisite knowledge for the vascular trainee presenting for the Fellowship examinations. Chaired by an academic vascular surgeon with research interests in relevant basic sciences, this session is compulsory for all registrants of AVT2009.
