Mounir is from the Discipline of Anatomy and Pathology, The University of Adelaide, where he coordinates anatomy programs for the second year MBBS, neuroanatomy for dental students, and Applied Anatomy of the cranial nerves elective for second year MBBS. Mounir coordinates surgical anatomy courses for trainees in general surgery, Orthopaedics, neurosurgery, radiology and psychiatry. Having a medical qualification has assisted Mounir in presenting anatomy in a clinical context. Mounir was awarded several teaching development grants, the Dean’s Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2006 and The Richard Pellew Prize in 2009 and 2010. His major areas of research are cerebral oedema, blood-brain barrier and brain trauma.
